October Class Registration Closes 9/22
Founded by a former elementary educator and mother of two young boys, Little Sprout Library was created from the belief that children learn best through play and creativity. In the classroom, it's easy to bring stories to life through hands-on activities, songs, and crafts—Little Sprout Library brings that same engaging, imaginative approach to parents and children outside of a school setting. Each class is centered around a carefully selected read-aloud, chosen for its rich language, compelling illustrations, and meaningful themes. Through interactive play and storytelling, children naturally build advanced vocabulary, explore early science concepts, and develop essential values such as teamwork, creativity, perseverance, and friendship. Our goal is to nurture a love of reading that will take root and grow for years to come.
Each year, approximately 640,000 tons—or an estimated 320 million books—end up in U.S. landfills. Compounding this issue, the publishing industry frequently overprints based on projected sales, resulting in millions of unsold or returned books that ultimately go to waste. To help address this growing problem, Little Sprout Library partners with used book wholesalers—many of which are certified B Corporations—to source titles in a more sustainable way. Once our book of the month is selected, we prioritize acquiring gently used copies through these channels. While some titles may be too recent to source secondhand, our commitment remains: to give as many books as possible a meaningful new home.
Each month, we select a theme—often inspired by the seasons, scientific concepts, or topics of high interest to young learners. A carefully curated picture book is then chosen to support and deepen understanding of that theme. Selections are based on several criteria, including literary quality, vocabulary richness, illustration style, developmental appropriateness, and overall appeal. We also prioritize award-winning titles, including Caldecott, Newbery, and National Book Award honorees, to ensure a meaningful and enriching reading experience.
At Little Sprout Library, we are passionate about helping children grow through meaningful read-aloud experiences, storytelling, and creative crafts. As part of our educational programming, we read full children's books aloud and lead related activities designed to build literacy, imagination, and emotional development.
Each family enrolled in our program receives their own copy of the book to take home, ensuring that authors, illustrators, and publishers are directly supported through book sales. While our program is commercial in nature, it is also educational and transformative, designed to enhance the reading experience through discussion, creativity, and connection.
If you are a copyright holder and have any questions or concerns about the use of your work in our programming, please contact us at info@littlesproutlibrary.com We are committed to collaborating respectfully and responsibly with authors, publishers, and the broader literary community.
We acknowledge the use of brief snippets of book illustrations on our website, social media and marketing materials as teasers to highlight upcoming titles and generate excitement around literacy.
These illustration snippets are used sparingly and with respect for the original creators. They are not intended to replace or devalue the full work, but to inspire interest and promote reading. Wherever possible, we provide attribution to the author, illustrator, and publisher.
We respect the intellectual property rights of all creators. If you are a rights holder and have any questions or concerns about the use of your work, please contact us at info@littlesproutlibrary.com.
